The World Cement Association Appoints Two New Joint Chairmen

London, 24 September 2019 - The World Cement Association announced today that it has appointed two new Joint Chairmen, Mr Cui Xingtai of China United Cement Company (CUCC), China and Mr Vincent Lefebvre of Cem’In’Eu, France.

Upon his appointment, Mr Cui stated: “WCA supports a sustainable cement industry, encouraging technical development and promoting best practices to achieve full decarbonisation, and provides practical help to members to accelerate their progress on this critical journey. I believe that CUCC can contribute to this vision and will also benefit from its membership and active participation in WCA.”

Mr Cui has been Chairman of CUCC since 2005 and Vice President of CNBM since 2009, and has a wealth of knowledge across the Chinese building materials sector. CUCC has been one of the pioneers in building vertically integrated cement enterprises in China, and has an annual capacity of 120 million tons cement, 200 million cubic metres of concrete and 100 million tons of aggregates.

“I am proud to be associated with WCA, which is committed to giving all corporate members the same rights, whether large or small, whether from emerging economies or developed countries, and which provides practical help to improve the industry’s environmental performance,” Mr Lefebvre went on to say.

Mr Lefebvre has dual experience as an international group executive with Holcim and start-up founder, as well as knowledge of markets and innovation, offering a valuable contribution to the WCA’s board.

WCA CEO, Ian Riley, welcomed them both to their new positions: “I am delighted that the board has appointed two such distinguished executives as Joint Chairmen of the Association. Their strong track record as businessmen underlines our commitment to providing practical value-added services to our members.”
