Update from WCA

New Initiatives & Programmes Launched, Partner Events & Member Discounts

Message from the CEO

"We hope you are safe and well, and that your business has been resilient in the face of COVID-19’s challenges. The last 6 months has seen many changes at WCA as we have tried to adapt to a new environment in which travel is not possible. Many of you will have attended our webinars and seen the video interviews with executives of members around the world. We have also started Pegasus 2020, a multi-company benchmarking and performance improvement project. If you are not already participating in this and would like to do so, please let me know. This month has seen the Professional Committees change to a “remote native” mode, which I hope will facilitate regular meetings. We have also implemented professional networks to give the committees a channel of communications with members. These will be holding their first meetings in the next few weeks. Please do get in touch if you have any questions or comments to share on any of the below." - Ian Riley, WCA CEO

General Assembly 2020:

Due to the travel restrictions in place as a result of the COVID pandemic, 2020’s General Assembly for all WCA Members will be held fully online on 10th December, 10-12.30 London time. 10-11am will be open to Primary Representatives only, for the formal session and the election of directors, followed by another session 11-12.30, open to all employees of WCA members, consisting of a keynote speech, updates from Ian Riley, and presentations from the professional committees. More details on this will be circulated separately.

Podcasts:

Following the success of the WCA webinars during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are launching the first cement industry podcast series, the “Clinker Factor”. In the first season, Ian Riley will talk to industry leaders, experts and technological innovators from across the globe, bringing insights and fresh perspectives on how the cement sector can decarbonise and improve sustainability. The first episode, on the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and its impact on the European cement industry, with guest speakers Vincent Lefebvre, Anne Dekeukelaere and Michael Mehling, is available to listen to now on this link, or alternatively, on Spotify and iTunes.

We have successfully launched our four professional committees and networks. These committees are:
