London, 26 November 2018 – The World Cement Association (WCA) today announces a further expansion to its international membership and welcomes Hefei Cement Research & Design Institute Corp. Ltd. in China as an Associate Corporate member.
“We are delighted that Hefei Cement Research & Design Institute Corp. Ltd. is joining our global network. It’s important for us to have members in our association which represent different countries as well as different areas of the cement industry,” said Norman Greig, General Secretary of the World Cement Association. “This allows us to share a broad spectrum of expertise among our membership.”
Hefei Cement Research & Design Institute Corp. Ltd., is a leading research institute in China. The institute was founded over 60 years ago and in 1999 became part of China’s biggest cement company, China National Building Material Group Corporation (CNBM).
Today, the institute is mainly engaged in the research and development of cement production technology and equipment as well as cement plant engineering design.
“We are honoured to become an associate member of the World Cement Association. We expect to have good cooperation with other members in the WCA family. Over the last 60 years we have been trying our best to serve the needs of the cement plants at home and abroad. And in this process, we have developed strength in cement technology development, in cement equipment manufacturing and supply and in cement projects engineering, especially renovation and upgradation projects engineering. The challenges that our industry is facing today is enormous. It takes the joint efforts of the entire world cement community to tackle it. Together with all other WCA members we shall make our share of contribution,” said Mr. Zhou Yunfeng, Executive Director.
With a membership base representing more than 1.3 billion tons of annual cement production capacity the WCA’s network spans 38 countries around the world.
The WCA will hold its General Assembly and WCA World Cement Conference in association with Intercem at the Royal Garden Hotel in London on 5 December. WCA members and stakeholder will come together to discuss future challenges for the industry, such as digitalisation, demand and supply and climate change.
