WCA’s IWD2020 Mini-Series: Women @ YTL

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2020, held on Sunday 8th March, WCA are creating a blog mini-series highlighting the achievements of women across the global cement industry and showcasing where our members are working hard to achieve gender equality and diversity in their companies.

Women at YTL (or more affectionately known as “W@Y”), is YTL’s very own women’s network. It was established at YTL’s Leadership Conference in 2015 by Jillian Quah to address and promote gender equality and to empower girls and women in the YTL Family. This programme seeks to support the women across the organisation, helping them grow and reach their full potential.

Since its inception in 2015, W@Y has organised a number of talks and sharing sessions, spanning different topics (such as self-branding and financial planning) aimed to inspire and provide insight.

The W@Y platform is open to all individuals regardless of gender, race and designation who are interested in supporting the women within the Group. Through its various initiatives, it aims to bolster confidence, raise competency in the workplace and foster a spirit of camaraderie among the female workforce.

For this year’s International Women’s Day celebration, W&Y hosted a series of talks and activities over breakfast, lunch and dinner, open to all women at YTL. 31 women represented YTL Cement from the 200 or so participants.

Dato’ Yeoh Soo Min, an Executive Director of YTL Corp, said of the event; “it is always good to look for new ways to recognise and celebrate each and every member of the YTL family for contributing their best. Today, in conjunction with International Women’s Day, I believe it is timely that we show our appreciation for the women of YTL - for who they are, and all that they have done and continue to do for us”.
