Head Sustainable Development at LafargeHolcim

Vice-chair of the Cement Sustainability Initiative in 2016 - and Chair in 2017

In his responsibility of Director of the WCA Climate Programme, Bernard Mathieu will help draft the WCA Roadmap on Climate Change and organize a successful and fruitful WCA Global Climate Change Forum bringing together CEOs and leaders of our Member Companies as well as external stakeholders.

World Cement Association Global Forum on Climate Change, which will take place on June 27th and 28th in Paris.

Bernard is chemical engineer and holds a management degree from Belgian universities (Liege and Brussels). He has 22 years of experience in the cement, concrete and aggregate business. He was notably Head of Global Environmental Sustainability for HeidelbergCement between 2007 and 2011 and Head of Sustainable Development for Holcim and LafargeHolcim between 2013 and end 2017. He participated to the works of the Cement Sustainability Initiative, under the auspices of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. He also took part to 4 Conferences of Parties (UN Framework Convention on Climate Change) in 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2017 where he represented the positions of the cement business on climate matters.

He has Extensive experience in the field of sustainability, developing and integrating comprehensive strategies, policies, programs and procedures in the areas of climate change, sustainable construction, biodiversity, CO2 trading, sustainability communication, industrial ecology. Mastered execution working in matrix organization and managing experts teams into international and trans-cultural environments.
